handpoking is a form of tattooing that is machine-free, each dot applied manually, one-by-one. they typically take longer than machine tattoos, but session time will range depending on the design and placement. most of the supplies and processes used are the same as would be used for a machine-done tattoo. when applied correctly, handpokes will last just as long and age just as well, if not better! in my and many others' experience, handpokes hurt less and are overall a more gentle tattoo experience - less pain, less noise, and potentially less damage to the skin. they also typically heal a bit faster than machine tattoos, with a smoother healing process.
handpoking can accomodate almost any style of project, big or small! if you're looking for a first tattoo, a sensitive placement, or just a gentler and calmer tattoo experience, handpoke is the perfect method. it's also great for geometric, ornamental, or otherwise precise styles that require ultra-accurate lines to be legible - with each dot being applied one at a time, the margin for error decreases. most styles of shading can be replicated with handpoke, whether you're looking for smooth gradients or the classic dotty look.
my flash designs are made to fit my personal style and technique, but i'm always happy to draw up a custom design that fits exactly what you're looking for! in the gallery above is a wide range of projects i've done, from simple designs to in-progress multi-session work. if you have any questions about handpoking or the tattoo process, don't hesitate to contact me - see my links above!
